Thermomix Flavoured Oil

Another recipe shared by Jan at our Branch Meeting. This was lovely poured over the gnocchi. A new favourite! I strained my oil through my nut bag.

Flavoured Oils
TM31 Method

400g grapeseed oil (any neutral oil should work)
2 bunches of parsley or basil

Place the oil and herbs (include stalks) in the TM bowl.
Blend for 15 minutes speed 10.
Strain the oil through a coffee filter, muslin, or I use kitchen paper towel in a strainer.
Store in the fridge, away from light.

    Wow. 15 minutes on speed 10 sounds like a long time. Why is it that long?

    • No idea Anne-Marie!! There are various oil flavouring recipes which I have seen which use varying lengths of times. This is obviously the one that Jan finds works the best but I have seen recipes for six minutes so perhaps experiment to find which time works best for you. Jan’s original recipe included heating the oil at 50 degrees but I found that the temperature of the oil reaches higher than this during this process so I have left that out but again the recipe is open to experiment with. I can tell you that it tastes amazing though 🙂 Thanks for your question, I am sure many would also wonder the same thing x

    • Hello Michelle! So pleased you are enjoying the recipes. Now your homework is to get that Varoma out!!! There are so many ways in which you can use it – everything from breakfast (think poached eggs) through to dessert (think sticky date pudding!!). It really is a great way to increase the amount of food plus it is such a healthy option! Make sure you get it out of that cupboard….it gets lonely in there!!! 🙂 Happy New Year! xx
