In the last few posts I have mentioned the very lovely Jan Fozard who was one of our our guest speaker at our Branch Meeting this month. Jan is not only a beautiful cook but she is a beautiful and generous lady and she shared some extra recipes with me which she said that I could share with you all! Thank you Jan xx
Hazelnut Caramel Slice
50g cocoa powder
400g brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla etract
225g plain flour
200g whole hazelnuts, toasted
180g unsalted butter
2 tablespoons golden syrup
180ml condensed milk (*see note)
Chocolate top Ingredients
200g Milk Chocolate
100g Dark Chocolate
1 Put butter, cocoa, sugar, and vanilla in TM bowl 2 minutes/speed 3.
2 Add eggs 3 minutes/speed 3.
3 Add flour to TM bowl 20 seconds/speed 3.
4 Spread this mixture into a prepared, 20cm x 30cm pan lined with baking paper.
5 Bake in a pre-heated oven at 180 degrees for 20 minutes. Cool.
1 Place all ingredients into TM bowl
15 minutes/Varoma/speed 4.
2 Spread the toasted hazelnuts over the base evenly.
3 Quickly pour and spread the caramel filling over the base, refrigerate until firm (approx 30 minutes).
1 Break the chocolate into TM bowl speed 8/20 seconds.
2 Add the butter to the bowl speed 3/50 degrees/5 minutes.
3 Pour over the caramel and hazelnut filling and allow to set. Cut into squares to serve.
TM Condensed milk is easy to make:
1 Place 800g milk, 250g sugar, and 1 teaspoon vanilla essence into TM bowl, 10 minutes/90 degrees C/ speed 4.
2 Then 35 minutes/Varoma/speed 4. Place steaming basket on the top to stop splashes and allow evaporation.
3 Blend 30 seconds/speed 7. Store in a sterilized glass jar in fridge for up to 1 month.
